Joining plasterboards

Joining plasterboards by using fibre glass tape
Prior to start up jointing plasterboards, ensure whether they are properly attached to the surface or to metal structure, in accordance with the rules of their assembly.
For joining plasterboards, a glass fibre self-adhesive tape should be applied. In the first operation the tape must be applied on a joint of the panels.

After joining the panels with tape, apply a thin film of jointing compound ACRYL-PUTZ® START and after drying, apply next, wider layer up to sink totally a lath of the tape.

Joining plasterboards with paper tape

In case of jointing plasterboards by using paper tape or glass fibre interlining, it is important to have adequate jointing compound consistency. For this purpose, it is recommended to dilute ACRYL-PUTZ® FINISZ (Finish) by adding about 5% of pure water. Such prepared jointing compound should be applied onto the joint of plasterboards, remembering that the applied layer to be not too thin.

The next step is the application of paper tape on the prepared filler film and pressing it in such a way to squeeze out the excess jointing compound from the tape. Be careful with this operation in order not to break the tape. For this purpose, to get a better slip, it is recommended to put jointing compound onto the spatula and pressed it to the tape. It is important that the tape is sunk between the jointing compound layers.

When the coats applied become dried, with the use of wider spatula another layer of ACRYL-PUTZ® FINISZ (Finish) can be applied, so that the paper tape is fully coated by jointing compound. This operation should be repeated by applying increasingly wider belts of filler. In total, while jointing plasterboards with paper tape or interlining three layers of jointing compound should be applied.

Sandpapering

When dried up, the jointing compound should be ground with the use of trowel with sand-paper or abrasive mesh (recommended grain-size of the abrasive material 100 - 150). Reground surface shall be thoroughly dedusted before applying priming paint.

Check of jointing made

In order to check of the finished work, the light source (electric torch, lamp) should be directed parallel to the wall. This will allow the perception of possible inequalities and wrongly polished places.
